Cold Case – Grandmother Murdered

By abc40 Staff

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (abc40) — Police are looking for help from the public in solving the 2007 murder of a grandmother, who was gunned down in her Indian Orchard home.

Cassandra Oliver, 54, was shot and killed after a group of masked men forced their way in to her Allison Lane home around 1:30 a.m. Sept. 5, 2007. According to police, the men were armed with a gun and a crowbar and had argued with Oliver’s son. When Oliver came to the top of the stairs, one of the men shot her in the head from the bottom of the stairs and killed her.

Despite the noise of the gunshot and the disturbance, area residents said they didn’t hear any of it happening, according to police.

The men fled through a back door and are thought to have jumped over fences down to a waiting car on Parker Street, according to police.

Anyone with any information on the incident is asked to contact Springfield police at (413) 426-3578. Tips can be made anonymously.
