When the dieting gets tough, go back to basics

Week 68 Weigh In:

Change this week:  +1.5 lbs
Change overall:  -91 lbs

I’m not too concerned about my gain this week.  I didn’t have a horrible week as far as food goes, but it wasn’t perfect either.  Which is fine – I’m not perfect and I never will be!  Also, I keep remembering what my doctor told me a few weeks ago – your weight can normally fluctuate up to four pounds at any given time.  That helps keep me focused on the big picture instead of every little increase or decrease on the scale.

One thing I have noticed in the past few weeks, though, is a little bit of relaxing on my part as far as tracking everything I eat. And that’s a dangerous habit.  So this week I’m going to be very strict about making sure I track everything that goes in my mouth, whether I want to admit I ate it or not.

I’m also going back and re-reading some of my old blog entries here and checking out my old food diaries.  It’s hard sometimes to stick to something for the long haul and not get a little sloppy and unfocused.  I want to get back into my official gung-ho mindset and power through to my 100-pound milestone!

My first step will be bringing my kitchen and refrigerator up to snuff.  After the gym tonight I’ll hit the grocery store(s) and make sure I have all of my staples at hand for easy decision-making.  Here’s a sample shopping list that covers the basics for me to get started on a good week:
