South Hadley Selectboard Fields Bullying Concerns at Meeting
By WGGB Staff
SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. (WGGB) – Parents expressed concerns and outrage at times during a Board of Selectmen meeting Tuesday over bullying that allegedly resulted in the death of a freshmen at South Hadley High School.
Even though the selectboard has no direct authority over the schools, residents turned out to question the local town officials. Phoebe Prince, 15, reportedly took her own life and those who knew her Tuesday said the girl was incessantly taunted with names such as “Irish slut.” One girl from the school said the bullies were still at the school, and felt they should face criminal charges in connection with Prince’s death.
A parent said Tuesday she was concerned because she felt not enough was being done at the school, and that which was being done was not moving fast enough.
