Trying to stick to good eating habits on vacation

Starting weight (Phase 2):  209

Last week:  210.5

Week 19 weigh in: 212

Weekly change:  +1.5
Overall change:  +3

I’m not really surprised that I gained weight this week.  I was sick last week (which was why I didn’t write) and dropped three pounds, so it made sense that I sort of balanced that out with a small gain this week.

But that’s not what I want to focus on right now!  Right now, all I can think about is that I leave on vacation in two days – vacation in Hong Kong!

I’ve never been anywhere in Asia, so I’m especially excited about this trip.  And while I don’t want to drive myself crazy with it, I have been trying to spend a little time strategizing about eating while away.

In some ways, going on vacation and staying in a friend’s home will make it a little easier for me to eat well.  One of my biggest downfalls is night-time binging – and simply being with other people all the time will help eliminate the likelihood of binging.

I know there will be all sorts of great food I’ll want to try and I need to remember that I just need to *try* it – I need to think in terms of variety versus quantity and give myself license to try everything, but limit the amounts I’m eating.

I’m also trying to prepare in terms of planning exercise.  I’ve already spoken to my friends about access to a gym, and luckily, there is a possibility of that.  They’ve also researched some hiking opportunities, so I’ll be taking my walking shoes.  One of the trainers at the gym also suggested taking resistance bands for an incredibly portable option for a full body workout, so I’ve got those packed as well!

I won’t be writing next week, but I’ll be back the week after to tell you how it went!
