They’re too young to even open their eyes — yet these kittens were left to fend for themselves sunday — as hurricane irene pounded the pioneer valley.
A goshen man and his daughter found the kittens in a box floating in the big y parking lot in northampton…And brought them here — to the goshen fire department.
Thanks to a lot of improvising and intensive care, five of the eight original kittens have survived.
Kyle meserdey of the goshen fire department said “we took a 2-liter bottle, filled it with hot water, and wrapped it in a towel to keep them warm.”
The department has even been keeping the community up-to-date on the kittens’ progress — posting pictures on Facebook “they have improved greatly in stamina and strength.”
These kittens may be small…But it’s the big hearts at the goshen fire department that are giving them a fighting chance.
