BLANDFORD, Mass. (WGGB) — Snow in October was more of a trick than a treat. It blanketed the Hampden County hill town Thursday evening. Pine trees looked more in season than Jack-o-lanterns covered in snow.
Two black cats that crossed the abc40/fox6 crews path stuck out in the white snow at the Yosts home. The family was surprised to shovel snow just days before their kids will be shoveling candy into their halloween bags.
“It’s just weird I said we should build a snowman and put a witches hat on,” said Marci Yosts, Blandford.
“It’s unexpected and pretty crazy,” said Ashley Yosts, Blandford.
“It is a big shock it comes this early. I mean it’s pretty enjoyable,” said Denver Yosts, Blandford.
Not everyone was happy with mother nature casting her spell. Some say the snow is a scary site to see.
“Pretty bad my grass seed is not working out,” said Mark Ilaria.
“I’m not happy about this. Its not even November and it’s already terrible outside it’s no good,” said Benette Rogers, Montgomery.
Jean Smith of Russell thinks this sneak preview of snow is a sign of a haunting winter ahead.
“If it stays this way, its been a lot of rain we’re probably gona get a lot of snow, don’t need it,” said Smith.
People who live in Blandford say their first snow usually falls around mid November.
