Mother, Brother Arraigned in Holyoke Shooting Death

HOLYOKE, Mass. (WGGB) — A Holyoke man was shot and killed over the weekend and Wednesday, his mother and brother faced a judge in connection to his death.

Late Tuesday, Holyoke Police arrested 20-year-old Damion Johnson and his mother, 45-year-old Joanne Couture for charges related to the death of 19-year-old Jefforey Johnson.

Jefforey Johnson was shot Sunday night inside a Beech Street apartment.  He was taken to Baystate Medical Center where he later died.

Damion Johnson is charged with murder and other weapons charges.  Couture is charged with willfully misleading police during an investigation.

Today, in Holyoke District Court, both plead not guilty to the charges, with Damion Johnson being denied the right to bail.

Both are scheduled for a pre-trial conference in late December.
