Westfield Boy Shares His Love of Reading

SPRINGFIELD, Massachusetts (WGGB) — It seems a lot of the news these days about young people isn’t very good. But there are young men and women doing things to help others.

People like Andrew Robitaille of Westfield, a student at Springfield’s Academy Hill School. He’s also a volunteer for Link to Libraries. Andrew’s love of reading led to his spearheading a book drive at his school. Friday morning, Link to Libraries co-founder Susan Kaplan paid a visit to the school to thank Andrew for his hard work. Andrew says he volunteers because he can’t imagine a world without reading and adds, “I try to imagine kids who don’t have books at school or home. It makes me appreciate what I have and never take it for granted.”

Andrew’s drive collected around 500 books that will be given to children all across the valley. We’ll bring you more of Andrew’s story next Thursday night, December 15th on Making a Difference. Look for it on FOX6 News at 10 and abc40 News at 11.
