Christmas Comes Early to Needy Families

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) — A Longmeadow based group — aptly named “Don’t Just Sit There” — gave out toys, blankets and food to the needy in Springfield on Sunday.
“It feel’s really good to give to the people who don’t really necessarily have it and just make their holiday special,” said Carly Kimball of Longmeadow.

The group brought presents to the homes of seven different families at the Sullivan Apartment Complex on Nursery St. Families were grateful for the support from complete strangers.

“I’m always telling my kids its better to give than receive,” said Erica Dominguez, one of the family’s receiving on Sunday. “We give our time to those who are less fortunate than us and there’s always a reward in thet end. This just goes to prove that there’s still good people out there.”

This was the third year that the kids brought presents to Springfield-area families.
