Somers Church Holds First Service

SOMERS, Conn. (WGGB) — The Somers community was rocked on January 2, 2012 when the town’s 170-year old Congregational Church burnt to the ground.

On Sunday the community held service in the Town Hall across the street. Even with the loss of a town landmark and parish’s heart, Reverend Barry Cass is happy with what the community does have.

“What we do have…what we’ve always had is the community and the people,” said Cass.

The church will be holding service in the Town Hall for the rest of the month, his church is looking to find a more permanent home.
