SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) — In the first matchup between the two, Central took down Commerce 52-43 — but in Monday night’s rematch — that wasn’t the case.
The Golden Eagles beat the Red Raiders handily, 85-49, and Central’s Kamari Robinson showed off what might be the dunk of the year in Western Massachusetts High School basketball. Robinson finished with 18 points to go along with his powerful slam, and the Golden Eagles improved to 18-1 on the season.
“That actually was amazing,” said Central senior Tyrell Springer. “I was shocked because usually he won’t take off like that — but tonight was just his night.”
Springer scored in double figures again — notching 17 points for the Golden Eagles. Commerce’s Alex Lopez countered with 27 points.
Also in Western Mass hoops, Putnam defeated West Springfield. The Beavers improve to 15-4 as West Springfield loses on the road.
