Former Ware Resident Arrested on Child Pornography Charges
43 year-old,Christopher Boucher, who now resides in West Brookfield, is facing child pornography charges following his arrest in January.
The Child Sexual Predator Task Force, of the Northwestern District Attorneys Office, which is led by Assistant Northwestern District Attorney Christine Tetreault and State Police Lt. Michael Barrett, arrested Boucher on Jan. 30 at his West Main Street apartment after receiving information from the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
State Police Sgt. Thomas Bakey was the lead investigator on the case and it was learned that child pornography was being traded on the internet via the eMule file sharing network on a computer at Boucher’s former 36 West Main St. apartment in Ware.
Troopers assigned to the Digital Evidence and Multi-media Section located a video which had been downloaded from the Internet on January 25, 2012. The video included images of a young girl, between 10 and 12 years of age, performing oral sex upon an adult male.
This video has been identified by law enforcement and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children as known child pornography, meaning that the young female being sexually abused in the video has been identified and her age confirmed to have been under the age of 18 when the video was made.
According to the Northwestern DA’s Office the suspect made statements admitting to the use of eMule to download the video. He had been previously convicted of possession of child pornography on Feb. 5, 2001 in Federal District Court in Boston.
A pre-trial conference that was to have been held in Eastern Hampshire District Court today, Feb. 29, was continued until March 28 so that Boucher can be arraigned in Hampshire Superior Court.
No arraignment date has been set yet.
He has been classified as a Level 2 sex offender by the Sex Offender Registry Board.
