Snow Blankets W.Mass.

NORTHAMPTON, Mass.  (WGGB) — March is heading in like a lion as February leaps away amid a winter storm.

“I think it was one last chance before it broke free to spring, so this is her last hurrah,” said Ross Bennett, West Springfield.

Wednesday night the cleanup was already underway during a lull in the storm.  Many people out in the storm were happy to finally see some snow.

“I do like the snow.  It’s fun,” said Ann Clement, Amherst.

“It’s about time.  I’ve been waiting for the snow,” said Steve from Easthampton.

Contractors like Deryk Baker are relieved the snow is generating some business.

“It’s about time.  I’ll tell ya that much.  Been waiting all winter haven’t been doing too much,” said Baker.

Ace Hardware in Hadley had a few people picking up some last minute winter items.   The store is set up for spring and had to bring some shovels and ice melt from the back to the front of the store.

“It’s been such a mild winter.  People are well equipped anyways.  It wasn’t like a block buster day.  We have a surplus of everything,” said John Beauregard, manager.

“Well I was out there with last years shovel it was worn and I thought you know I should get serious about this thing,” said Bill Farkas, Florence.

Farkas says this snow will make sure we appreciate the warmer days ahead.

“You really can’t enjoy spring if you haven’t had a decent winter before it,” said Farkas.

In case you forgot spring is March 20th.
