BOSTON (AP) — Republican U.S. Sen. Scott Brown is relying heavily on donations from the financial and health care sectors as he gears up for what could be the costliest Senate race in Massachusetts history.

His chief Democratic rival, Elizabeth Warren, is tapping the wallets of lawyers, academics, union members and filmmakers.

An Associated Press analysis of campaign finance reports found Brown pulled in more than $880,000 last year from bankers, investors, venture capitalists and others working in the financial services sector.

Warren received far less, about $175,000, but outpaced Brown in contributions from lawyers who donated $700,000 to her compared to $348,000 to Brown.

Warren also pulled in checks from Hollywood heavyweights like Barbra Streisand and Danny DeVito.

The Harvard Law School professor was also more popular than Brown with fellow academics.
