Teen in I.C.U., Driver Charged after Holyoke Accident

HOLYOKE, MASS. (WGGB) — A teenager is still in intensive care after being hit by a pickup truck Wednesday night on Northampton Street, and the driver is now facing charges.

Around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, an 18-year-old male was crossing Northampton Street, also known as Route 5, near the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home in Holyoke when he was hit by the white truck.

That man was quickly taken to the hospital. Holyoke Police Sgt. Isaias Cruz tells ABC40 that teen, whose name has not been released, is currently in the intensive care unit at the hospital.

Sgt. Cruz adds that the driver of the truck is facing charges of operating under the influence resulting in a serious injury, and marked lanes violations.

The name of the driver has not been released.
