Chicopee Police Break Up Fight in Szot Park, Man Arrested

Chicopee, Mass. (WGGB) — A man was arrested Wednesday evening after a fight broke out at Szot Park.

The call was received at 6:36p.m.

Chicopee Lt. Major told ABC40, “One party was taken into custody on charges including Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, and Disturbance while Carrying a Dangerous Weapon, a knife.”

Major says there were two groups of individuals at the park.  The fight started after one group who was playing volleyball got upset with the other group who had a child that kept taking their ball.

An altercation then ensued between the groups when police arrived.

Officers were able to separate all the parties involved.

Major said no one was seriously injured and no one was taken to the hospital.

  1. I’d be curious to know where the majority of those who were in this thing, live. They should bring back park badges and make you wear them. If caught without them on or are involved in an altercation like this then you’re trespassed. They should cost like $25 for out of towners and residents maybe $1 to cover cost of it. Residents should also get priority since we pay the taxes or the landlords do. I’m not talking about organized park leagues like for baseball and softball teams do during season.
