SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) – It’s almost that time of the year again, when the city of Springfield will be filled with the smell of delicious pancakes.

The 27th annual World’s Largest Pancake Breakfast was the topic of conversation at Springfield City Hall Thursday.

Mayor Domenic Sarno presented Colonel Steven Vautrain of Westover Air Reserve Base with an official Spirit of Springfield jacket, officially naming him the ambassador of the event.

The breakfast will be held on Saturday, May 12th, and thousands are expected to attend.

It’s always held around this time of the year to mark the anniversary of the city’s founding on May 14, 1636.
