Amherst Police Prepare for Busy Weekend

AMHERST, Mass. (WGGB) – It’s the last weekend of the semester before local college students face final exams and Amherst Police are prepping for a busy weekend.

Amherst Police say that, so far, this Spring has been pretty quiet, compared to previous years.

However, they are not letting their guard down yet.

Every Amherst Police officer will be on-duty all weekend and State Police will provide back-up if needed, all in hopes of ending the school year on a safe note.

Police made 34 arrests last weekend. Thursday night, they issued a number of citation for drinking and noise violations.

The 21st annual Extravaganja Festival Saturday is also expected to keep people busy.
