NORTHAMPTON, MASS. (WGGB)-It looks like something out of a movie. The aftermath of Saturday’s accident is on display on Pleasant Street…yet it is anything but pleasant. “We were going to get Bueno y Sano and a couple of police officers, maybe 3 or 4, went pretty fast over here, followed by two fire trucks” said Hannalise Rivera-Lovett of Northampton.
Police say a man crashed into 9 parked cars at the Pleasant Journey used car dealership on Route 5 around 6 o’clock last night. The car also knocked out a telephone pole before flipping over. Firefighters had to use the Jaws of Life to get the driver out. When word spread about the crash, people just had to see it for themselves—including Bill Whitehill. “First I came by earlier and I thought a freight train came through” said the Westfield resident. “We got a call from our mom who said it was crazy and to come down here and check it out” Hannalise added.
Police don’t believe alcohol was a factor, but they say driver was speeding. “Don’t speed on Route 5. The driving is horrendous. I can only imagine calling the insurance company tomorrow morning. Some sound advice.
The driver and passenger were not seriously hurt.

I wonder is that individual is going to loose his license
Didn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that speed was a factor! 9 cars plus a telephone pole…yeah id say he was speeding! Just glad everyone’s alright! Too bad stupidity is not a crime!
Wow thank God no one was in those other cars..
I would hate to be the guys insurance company
Ya its crazy. The driver had had to been doin somthing in the car to cause this.. Speeding is a part of it but speeding dont cause accidents its the drivers that cant pay attention to one thing behind the wheel…
I drove by today and seem all the ppl looking at it. Did not think it was possible 1 vehicle could do that much damage. I actually thought that the cars were brought there. It was that bad.
I couldnt believe a van did all that, at first I assumed it was a tractor trailer
Wow!!!!
xthe text and also how old was the driver
I was driving home from work nearby on 91 at that time. People were crazy on the road. A guy tried to pass me out on the right in a single lane when I got to Rt. 9, and I was driving the speed limit. He ended up pulling into a McDonalds. What’s with these people these days!
