I respect your statement and somewhat agree that if your seen doing it, own it. But as a criminal justice major you are already a third biased in the court room. The other 2/3 being judge/ defense, with the jury remaining ” neutral.”
I’m not an expert like you in any way, I am just saying no matter what happens in life you always keep your options open. No one else is going to help you discern whether you choose to be a miscreant or not, but miscreant or not, your rights in a courtroom are no more, nor are they less, than a law abiding citizen.

As a criminal justice major i am learning more and more that prosecutors and the court will seek plea deals over taking the time to prosecute because it frees up the court system and supoosedly saves a lot of money. I think in this case, the offender in the video made a huge mistake in pleading not guilty because the incident is clear as to what happened. Now it will go to court and not only does he have the fact that he sucker punched somebody affecting his character but now he also looks like a blatant liar. You can keep options open for yourself if its heresay or something like that but when your caught doing something on video, own up to it.

You always plead not guilty. It’s your sacred right and it keeps options open for you. Never plead guilty. Not all cases go to trial and I am not sure of the conviction rate, but it probably is low as opposed to plea bargaining and whatnot.
Never plead guilty and as soon as you hear the phrase “you have the right to remain silent.” Do that.
