Rice Farm Stand in Wilbraham May Open Again Soon

Wilbraham, Mass. (WGGB) — A longtime farm stand in Wilbraham could soon be back open.

At a recent town meeting residents approved a new zoning amendment which will allow the Rice Farm Stand to re-open once it gets a special permit from the Planning Board.

The stand on Main Street has been there for man than 100 years.  Its owner died back in 2010.

Currently the stand still belongs to the Rice family, but Dominic Maloni and his brother, Anthony Maloni hope to become official owners in July if all goes well.

The goal is to sell the same things the stand used to sell including apples, peaches, ice cream, baked goods, and Christmas trees.

Anthony Maloni,  told ABC40 News, “We’re very excited, the town’s been nothing but supportive of us, and according to all the residents it’s a landmark with Wilbraham.  We look forward to restoring it to where it originally was.”

The earliest the business could re-open is September.

The Maloni’s own Cindy’s Drive-In, which sells burgers and ice cream on Rt.202 in Granby.
