BOSTON (AP) — Gov. Deval Patrick is heading to western and central Massachusetts to tour a tornado recovery site and attend a ceremony commemorating the passage of one year since a devastating storm destroyed lives and livelihoods in the region.
The Democratic governor is scheduled to tour a recovery site in Monson, before heading to West Springfield to dedicate a garden in memory of those killed in rare Massachusetts tornadoes.

Monson, with a population of 8,500, received one of the storm’s biggest blows when a twister with160 mph wind gusts touched down in the heart of its downtown.
