SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) — Greenish yellow pollen continues to cover pretty much everything around the state.
The powdery mess is a pain for people trying to keep their cars clean.
“I usually wash my car once a week. I’m now washing my car several times a week,” said Adiel Velez.
Repeat customers like Velez are keeping places like the FL Roberts Golden Nozzle Car Wash in Chicopee busy.
“Very messy especially with darker color cars you know they keep coming here. Pollen unfortunately you wash it one day or two it comes back,” said Daniel Dulude, Golden Nozzle.
The pollen is also keeping Springfield Allergist Dr. Robert McGovern busy.
“I’ve seen a high influx of patients this week,” said McGovern.
McGovern explains the tree and grass pollen count is high from the warm winter and dry windy conditions. He says people should stay indoors and use their car AC instead of the windows to avoid the pollen.
If your not sure you even have allergies Dr. McGovern recommends you look for the symptoms.
“When you get allergies a lot of the time you get sneezy, you get nasal congestion, itching of the eye, water of the eyes, might get some wheezing or coughing,” said McGovern.
Dr. McGovern advises people to check with their own doctor if they are concerned about allergies.
