Officials Looking for Cause of Monson House Fire

MONSON, Mass (WGGB) — Several different fire departments fought a large fire at 289 Main Street in Monson.

It broke out around 1:00 a.m. Wednesday morning.

Firefighters had feared that three people were trapped inside the home, but couldn’t complete more than one search of the home because it was fully involved in fire.

It was later determined that two of the people fled the home and a third was at work overnight.

Monson Chief George Robichaud says the the building is a total loss.

Firefighters from Monson, Brimfield, Wales, Palmer and Hampden all responded to help battle the flames.

The State Fire Marshal is on scene investigating the cause.

No injuries were reported.
