Record Heat to Start Summer

SPRINGFIELD, MASS (WGGB)  The hot & humid conditions will be in full force today. The “Bermuda High” will be pumping in all the heat.  Temperatures will reach into the 90s along with dew points well into the 60s.

The National Weather Service has issued Heat Advisories for parts of the area for this afternoon & evening. With the high temps and humidity levels it will feel like it’s over 100! The record for today’s date, June 20th is 96, set back in 1953. We have a good chance of breaking the record!

It will be warm & muggy tonight as well so you will need to keep those ACs cranking! Tomorrow will be just as hot, if not hotter! Temperatures tomorrow will reach into the upper 90s. A few spots could touch 100! It might be slightly less humid tomorrow afternoon but either way it will be oppressive!

Temperature will start cooling down on Friday.  With it though comes the possibility of some strong or severe thunderstorms. (Not certain)  Right now the weekend is looking more comfortable with cooler temperatures and lower humidity levels. Saturday is looking really nice, Sunday isn’t too bad either but there could be a shower or thunderstorm in a few spots.

Stay Cool!

Dan Brown
