Power Back On After Early Morning Outage
June 22nd, 2012
On the hottest night in Western Massachusetts so far, one part of Springfield lacked the hum of air conditioners.
More than a thousand customers lost power overnight in the Six Corners section of Springfield. According to Western Massachusetts Electric Company, about 2,600 people were in the dark as of midnight. Power was restored by 1:00 a.m. WMECO tells us that there was an issue with underground cables. Most of the affected homes were in the area of Hancock and Alden Streets and Eastern Avenue. Other outages are reported in Colrain, Hadley, Montague, Southwick, and West Springfield.

I hope we get answers soon as of why we have no power.
It’s been out since about 10pm on June 21st
Another squirrel got on a transformer lol
let the looting begin!
Surprise
wow. that is a wide area.. I am watching 40 now and they said nothing. Taped??? Bad night for no power!!!
Yes it is.
We did not have any looting in this area when the tornado hit and we sure are not going to have any now.

I heard on police scanner that power in your area should be back on around 2am
It just came back on, thank goodness.
MSM won’t report this but the National Grid is straining this is only the beginning folks, West Virginia shut down 2-3 coal burning plants because of the EPA, wait til August when the whole system not just the east coast is straining
I was at my fathers yesterday and a transformer blew up and caught fire behind his building on Roosevelt Ave near the high school. They were working on it all day. That is probably where it began. Their elderly complex was out of power all day.
That maybe just it Patricia, thank you. It did go off and on a few times earlier in the day before it completely went around 10:30 last night.
