The first program revisits the cold-blooded murders of almost every member of the Caffey family in rural East Texas in March, 2008.
Terry Caffey and his wife Penny were shot as they slept.
Penny died, and their two young sons were also murdered.
Terry survived the attack, was able to escape through a bathroom window and drag himself through the woods to the closest neighbors for safety.
What makes Final Witness unique is that the story isn’t told through Terry, but rather, by his murdered wife.
Caffey told me, “To actually see on film, I’ll be honest with you, it was a little difficult. I was having to back and relive those moments and it just became so real to me again. I still don’t understand all of it, but I’ve just tried to use this tragedy to make good come of it and that’s why we’ve started the ministry and that’s why we’re involved in this program.”
To add to the tragedy, Terry’s teenaged daughter was behind the murders. She was angry that her parents wouldn’t allow her to see her boyfriend.
Again, Final Witness premieres Wednesday at 10 p.m. on ABC40.
