Pittsfield Man Charged in Cyber Sting

PITTSFIELD, Mass. (AP) — A Pittsfield man has been arrested as part of an international sting operation targeting a black market for online financial fraud.

The FBI said Peter Ketchum Jr. was among two dozen people on four continents charged Tuesday with stealing and trafficking personal identification information on the Internet, also called “carding.”

According to a criminal complaint filed in New York, the 21-year-old Ketchum was charged with conspiracy to commit access device fraud.

Ketchum allegedly went by the online name “IwearaMAGNUM.” He’s accused of selling drop services to other carders in exchange for money or carded merchandise.

Authorities say he advertised drop locations in multiple cities, and allegedly received and shipped carded merchandise, including sunglasses, air purifiers and synthetic marijuana. Ketchum could not immediately be reached. A message was left at his home.
