SPRINGFIELD, MASS (WGGB) Temperatures reached into the lower 90s once again Sunday in the Pioneer Valley which means we realized our second official heat wave of the season. The heat combined with a weak cool front in our vicinity, helped trigger some thunderstorms during the mid-afternoon that prompted a few severe thunderstorm warnings. No actual reports of damage from severe weather were received from these storms before they moved on into southeastern New England.
Behind the front, the heat will break on Monday with highs staying in the middle 80s for a change. A nice breeze and modest levels of humidity should help ease the comfort level too. Watch out for a few pop-up mid-day or afternoon showers and thundershowers but at this point the chance for severe weather is pretty low.
