SPRINGFIELD, MASS (WGGB) It was a warm weekend across western Massachusetts. We saw temperatures reach into the low to mid-90s. Friday we hit 95, Saturday 91, and Sunday 91 as well. This makes seven days so far this season that we’ve reached over 90.
However, as warm as it was here it’s nothing compared to much of the rest of the country. An intense heat wave as engulfed the country from the Rockies to the southeast and everywhere in between. Some locations not only set new, daily record highs, but also for the month and in some cases tied or set all-time record highs since record have been kept. (1800s)
There were over 1,600 daily records highs set over the past few days and over 40 all-time record highs. The intense heat will continue through the 4th with the heart of the heat across the middle part of the country from Dallas to North Dakota.
Have a great day!
