All Lanes Back Open on Mass. Pike Westbound after Accident

CHARLTON, Mass. (WGGB) — All the lanes of the westbound side of the Mass. Pike have reopened after a serious crash.

State Police say that around 11:15 a.m., troopers assigned to the Charlton barracks responded to a one car rollover accident on I-90 Westbound just before Exit 8.

Two medical helicopters were called in to transport two patients, and as a result, State Police had to close all of the westbound lanes to allow the helicopters to land.

Two people were flown to the hospital with serious and life-threatening injuries. A third person was taken by ambulance to Charlton Hospital.

By 1 p.m. the breakdown and right lanes had reopened.

State Police say that traffic was backed up all the way up to Exit 10 west.
