BOSTON (AP) — Massachusetts transportation officials have unveiled new highway message boards that aim to give motorists a real-time estimate of how long it will take to reach their destinations.
Most of the 22 electronic signs will be strategically located on Interstate 93 from Canton to the New Hampshire border.
The signs will regularly update how many minutes it will take to reach an exit or highway interchange.
Secretary of Transportation Richard Davey said Monday that cameras are also being installed on Route 6 to provide information about traffic leaving Cape Cod at the end of busy summer weekends.
Davey says the program, estimated to cost $2 to $3 million, will help reduce the stress level of drivers and let them know if they’re running late or should consider alternate routes.

Why do we really need this “luxury”??? Why do I need reminders of eco-propriety all down rt. 291?? Dumb and wasteful.
