Two Men Under Arrest after Stealing Donation Cup from Springfield Restaurant
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) — Two men have been arrested after allegedly stealing a donation cup full of change from a restaurant Sunday morning.
Around 6:30 a.m. Sunday, two men allegedly broke into Latino’s Kitchen at 2757 Main Street, according to Springfield Police Sgt. John Delaney.
When officers arrived, witnesses gave them a description of the suspects. Delaney says that the officers were also told that the suspects may be bleeding from breaking glass on the restaurant’s door.
A short time later, they found the suspects, identified as 30-year-old Josue Ojeda of Holyoke and 45-year-old Luis Reyes, on Massasoit Street.
Delaney adds that investigators determined that the only thing stolen was an ‘Orphan donation cup’ that was on the counter.
Officers recovered the stolen money, mostly change, on their person after the arrest.
Ojeda and Reyes are charged with one count of breaking and entering in the daytime and one count of larceny from building.
Both men are scheduled to be arraigned in Springfield District Court Monday.
