$14B in Overpaid Unemployment Benefits

Regional (WGGB) – Those on unemployment in Massachusetts may have to pay some of their benefits back. That’s because during the Fiscal Year of 2011, the U.S. Government overpaid the unemployed in Massachusetts by $48,540,811.00.

Nationally the Government overpaid unemployment insurance by $14 Billion dollars.

That’s about 11 percent of all claims paid out during the last fiscal year according to cnnmoney.com.
