SPRINGFIELD, MASS (WGGB) – Temperatures will be into the 90s this afternoon.  It will be on the muggy side as well. An Air Quality Alert remains in effect until 11 pm tonight. Those suffering from respiratory conditions, the old and the young should take it especially slow this afternoon.

The heat and humidity will continue to build in over the weekend. We’re not expecting much if any rain today or tomorrow however by Sunday showers and thunderstorms will be moving into the area.

It will be a classic July weekend! A weekend for the beach or pool just be sure to slap on the sunscreen and be on the look out Sunday for showers and storms. We do need the rain!!

It will be slightly cooler and drier on Monday however the heat and humidity will quickly build back in. In fact, Tuesday and Wednesday will likely feature temperatures back into 90s with high levels of humidity. Another front will arrive during the middle of the week bringing with is showers and storms.
