City of Springfield to Open Cooling Centers

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) – The City of Springfield has announced that, because of the hot temperatures descending on western Massachusetts, several cooling centers will be open for the next two days.

The following cooling centers will be open Tuesday:

Greenleaf Community Center: 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Mason Square Senior Center: 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Riverview Senior Center: 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Pine Point Senior Center: 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Sixteen Acres Branch of Spfld. Public Library: 1:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

The following centers will be open Wednesday:

Greenleaf Community Center: 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Mason Square Senior Center: 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Riverview Senior Center: 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Pine Point Senior Center: 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
East Springfield Branch of Spfld. Public Library: 1:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Indian Orchard Branch of Spfld. Public Library: 1:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

City officials note that any residents with questions about the cooling center locations or their hours of operation can call the city’s customer service center at 311 or (413) 736-3111.
