The Hottest Day of the Summer

SPRINGFIELD, MASS (WGG)- A new record, at least unofficially. Temperatures this afternoon climbed into the middle and upper 90s across western Massachusetts. It looks as though we hit 98 degrees, which if confirmed, would be good enough for a new, daily, high, temperature record for today, July 17th. Including today, so far this season we’ve hit 90 degrees 15 times. Before today the warmest temperature this season was recorded on June 20th, when we hit 97!

Tomorrow should sneak back into the lower 90s as well. If we do it again tomorrow  it will be another heat wave, the fourth of the season. The heat and humidity will lead to showers and storms tomorrow afternoon as a cold front sweeps through the area. This front will put and end to the 90s and will bring much drier and cooler air into western Massachusetts which will last into the weekend. Have a great night & stay cool! Dan Brown
