HAVERHILL, Mass. (AP) — A 58-year-old Haverhill man is facing child enticement charges after police say he offered girls ages 6 and 8 money to take off their clothes.
Police say Steven Lavigne (luh-VEEN’) posed the question after he saw the girls standing outside their home at about 11 p.m. Sunday.
The girls’ mother did not call police until Monday when she noticed her daughters seemed nervous and asked why.
Lavigne denied asking them to take off their clothes. He told police he thought it unusual for children so young to be out so late and offered to buy them sodas.
Lavigne’s lawyer says there is more to the story than in the police report.
Lavigne was held on $10,000 bail at his arraignment Wednesday after pleading not guilty.
