Mass. Lobbyists Paid $52.6 Million So Far in 2012
July 23rd, 2012
BOSTON (AP) — The Massachusetts Secretary of State says lobbyists were paid $53 million so far this year, about $4 million more than in the first six months of 2011.
Secretary of State William Galvin’s office said Monday that between January and June, lobbyists in the state pulled in about $52.6 million. Galvin said that for the second year in a row, lobbyists are on pace to earn more than $100 million in salaries.
The total amount of money spent on lobbying in the state, including campaign contributions, salaries and other expenses, in the six months were just short of $64 million — up about $3 million from the first six months of 2011.

Lobbying money versus education money. Great idea for a news story.
