SPRINGFIELD (WGGB) – Springfield police are after a man they say beat a woman unconscious outside of a local grocery store last July. 26 year-old Luis Machuka’s last known address is on Pearl Street and he’s wanted on aggravated assault and battery charges.
Police say Machuka was exiting the Spring Street market on July 22, 2011 when he was approached by a female friend of his girlfriend. The 30 year-old woman began talking to Machuka, trying to help resolve a domestic dispute she’d heard about between the two.
“She was trying to smooth things over for her friend.” Sergeant John Delaney of Springfield Police says. “What she got in return was a punch to the face. She hit the ground. Then Machuka got on top of her and kicked her in the face.”
Unconscious on the ground outside the store, witnesses ran over to the woman’s aid. Machuka fled the scene before police arrived. The woman was hospitalized for her injuries which police describe as severe.
“She had a broken cheek bone. Stitches in her head and lacerations to her head.” Sgt. Delaney says.
Police believe Machuka to be in the Springfield area and has reportedly been seen in the downtown area. In addition to assault charges, other charges may be pending as a result of the woman’s injuries.

I was with her last Sunday. A week later and she still doesn’t look good. If you all could see the pic’s from the Hospital. You all would be looking for this guy.
