Fire Damages Home under Construction in Springfield

Springfield, Mass. (WGGB) — A home on Burr Street in Springfield caught fire Tuesday afternoon leaving thousands of dollars in damages.

That’s according to Dennis Ledger, Aid to the Fire Commissioner, Joseph Conant.

The call was received at 3:08 p.m.

Firefighters responded immediately to the home located at 22 Burr Street and were able to put out the flames within minutes.

Ledger told us, “The fire started in the cellar where a contractor was working at the time and went up a wall, crossing the ceiling into another room.”

About $30,000 in damage was done to the home which is not occupied and under construction.

Fire personnel continue to investigate the cause of the fire.

No one was injured in the incident.
