WESTFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) – Shortly after the funeral service for Officer Jose Torres wrapped up, two police cruisers became involved in an accident.
State Police spokesperson David Procopio says that around 1:15 p.m. Tuesday, a State Police cruiser and a cruiser from the Westfield State police cruiser collided on Western Avenue shortly after leaving Parenzo Hall.
The WSU cruiser, being driven by a university police officer, was transporting a Westfield State University official and two staff members.
The state trooper and the four people in the WSU cruiser were all taken to Noble Hospital for treatment.
The two staff members and police officer from Westfield State have been treated and released, adds Procopio.
The official from Westfield State and the state trooper remain hospitalized for further evaluation.
The accident remains under investigation by the Mass. State Police and Westfield State University police.

My brother is a Westfield police officer and today he had to bury, along with all the officers, their brother! Yes, it is like losing a family member!
