House Fire in Holland Causes Extensive Damage to the Interior

Holland, Mass. (WGGB) — Firefighters from multiple communities were able to put out a house fire in Holland Wednesday afternoon.

Safety personnel received the phone call at 3:48 p.m. responding shortly thereafter to the home located on Sunset Lane.

While it didn’t take firefighters too long to put out the flames, Holland Fire Chief, Paul Foster told us 5 of them did succumb to heat exhaustion and had to be treated.

Firefighters from surrounding communities including Brimfield and Sturbridge helped bring the situation under control.

Foster says the fire started in the basement and damaged the home’s interior enough to make it uninhabitable.

The house is not being currently occupied by anyone and no one was injured in the incident.

Fire officials do not suspect foul play and continue to investigate the cause.
