Springfield Police need your help in getting Lydia Datil off the streets.
Police describe 46-year-old Lydia Datil as sort of a chameleon.
Going by dozens of aliases and arrested several times, she almost never gives police her real name.
The last run-in with officers was at a local park.
Sgt. John Delaney told ABC40 News, “On June 12th we had a surveillance set up down the street at Calhoun Park.”
Springfield’s North End initiative then spots Datil and her boyfriend about to buy drugs.
“What they saw was Datil and her boyfriend get directed down to the corner of Allendale and Chestnut Streets, where the exchange was going to take place,” says Delaney, “Surveillance officers watched them and the drug deal culminated.”
Officers moved in to make an arrest, “Then the boyfriend fought the police and she took off down the street. Two police officers were down the street and she ran right into them,” added Delaney.
And when she did, she lifted a handgun in the air surrendering it to police and yelling out it was her boyfriends’.
Police later found out the gun was stolen in a home robbery in Georgia back in 1993.
Datil never showed up for her court date, but police say they’re confident she’s still in the neighborhood and up to her old tricks.
“Her crimes revolve around drugs, prostitution, and she’s carrying a firearm. She deserves to get off the streets,” explains Delaney.
