Crime Files: Eric Brown

SPRINGFIELD (WGGB) – Police say 42-year-old Eric Brown isn’t secretive about his abusive behavior towards women. They say Brown attacked a woman outside of a Santa Barbara Street house in January of 2012.

“The cops that patrol this area know him.” Sgt. John Delaney of the Springfield Police Dept. says. “At the time of this incident he had an outstanding warrant out for his arrest.”

Sgt. Delaney says witnesses in the neighborhood watched Brown’s fight with a woman move from inside the house and into the front yard. It was there that Brown punched the woman repeatedly in the face. The assault continued until police arrived at the scene.

“Beating a defenseless woman is not tolerated by Springfield Police. They knew what they had to do.” Sgt. Delaney said, referring to the officer’s knowledge of the warrant. “When they put him in the cruiser they found a long knife on him.”

This resulted in an additional charge of carrying a dangerous weapon with an outstanding warrant.

Police say Brown made bail, got back out on the streets and hasn’t been seen since. Police want him arrested so he can answer to not only the weapons charge, but domestic assault and battery.
