Tattoo and Piercing Shop in Amherst Robbed at Gunpoint

Amherst, Mass. (WGGB) — A tattoo and piercing shop in Amherst was robbed at gunpoint late Friday afternoon.

Police received the call for the armed robbery at Rogue Tattoo and Piercing on North Pleasant Street just after 5 p.m. Friday and responded immediately to the business.

Part-Owner, Donald Stolgitis told ABC40 News, “We did get robbed at gunpoint. Our piercer was behind the counter when a Hispanic male came in and demanded money from the cash register. My piercer said the armed robber had his finger on the trigger and pointed it directly at him so he tried not to make eye contact and gave the money over. The robber took off after that.”

Rogue Tattoo and Piercing is located on the 2nd Floor of the Carriage Shops in Amherst.

Stolgitis went on to say, “My piercer, who was not injured and was the only person there at the time, is talking to police now and giving them a statement. He’s pretty shook up.”

The suspect is described to be a light skinned Hispanic male, around 5’9 or 5’10 with bright green eyes believed to be contact lenses. He was also wearing a baseball cap pulled over his eyes.

“We’ve only been open since January. I did buy a security system last week, so I will be installing that equipment this weekend, “added Stolgitis.

Police are investigating this armed robbery.
