SPRINGFIELD, Mass (WGGB) — The memory of one fallen Springfield policeman will not be forgotten.
A car wash was held today at Big Daddy’s Ice Cream Shop on Boston Road in honor of Officer Kevin Ambrose.
Ambrose was killed in the line of duty in June while responding to a domestic violence call.
The idea for the car wash came from 11-year-old Josef Ramos, who says he just had to honor his friend.
“Very important,” says Ramos. “Especially if one of your closest friends passes away. I know he didn’t deserve to die, it’s sad how he did”
Ramos adds, “Me and him had such a great connection that if anything happened to him early like this i want to celebrate it. It’s very sad that he died.”
Today’s car wash raised about $1,000. The money will go to the Springfield Police Department.
