$5M Raised For Colorado Theater Victims

AURORA, Colo. (AP) — A coalition collecting contributions for people shot last month at a Colorado movie theater says it’s gearing up to distribute the $5 million raised so far.

Aurora spokeswoman Kim Stuart says the group expects to identify who will lead the group in the near future and determine how the money will be spent.

Though the Aurora Victim Relief Fund has collected more than $5 million to help the victims, the Community First Foundation website says just $450,000 has been distributed.

Family members of the victims plan to go public Tuesday about issues they say need to be discussed, but they refused to provide details in advance.

James Holmes is charged with killing 12 people and wounding 58 others during a Batman movie on July 20.
