Three Western Mass. Men Center of NY Drug Bust

RYE, N.Y. (AP) — State police say they arrested three Massachusetts men after finding more than 14 pounds of marijuana and a loaded handgun in a vehicle stopped for speeding through a work zone near New York City.

They say a trooper smelled marijuana, leading to a search that also turned up a number of oxycodone pills and $80,000 in cash. The vehicle was stopped Sunday on I-95 in Rye.

Troopers arrested 29-year-old Jerome Isaac and 28-year-old Alexis Garcia, both of Springfield, and 27-year-old Deshawn Walton of Indian Orchard. They’re charged with criminal possession of marijuana, a weapon and a controlled substance.

The men were being held without bail Monday at the Westchester County Jail. Information wasn’t available on whether they have lawyers.
