Fallen Soldier from North Adams Welcomed Home

North Adams, Mass. (WGGB) — A fallen soldier was brought home and welcomed by the community Wednesday in North Adams.

20 year-old Mike DeMarsico, an Army PFC, was killed in Afghanistan recently by an improvised explosive device.

According to WTEN thousands lined Route 2 in North Adams to show their respect as a motorcade with the hearse carrying his body made its way through the city.

DeMarsico enlisted after graduating high school.

Fox23 News is reporting DeMarsico had just deployed for his first tour this winter.

Calling hours for the fallen soldier will be held this Friday from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Flynn & Danoli Funeral Home on West Main Street in North Adams.

The funeral will take place Saturday at the First Baptist Church on Main Street starting at 11 a.m.
